same situation...i've applied for PR and OWP. My WP expires May 2012 and soon i won't have work with my employer.I tought by then I was going to have my OWP ready. Does the OWP comes first than approval? I'm worried about what's gonna happen with the OHIP. This is taking longer than imaginable.....what to do? who knows?

Im on this situation too!
Im spending over $300/month with medications because I cant apply for Ohip or some help from trilliun to help me cover my expanses. I have Diabetes and Im without health care has been 6 months...
I had called Ohip to apply and they said I cant apply until I find another job and get another work permit (Im currently unemployed, looking for another family and waiting for my Permant Residence process to get done)
This is really frustrating...

Comment on Bill C-35: How does it affect Canadian families? by Execu-Nannies

Rob,

I completely agree that C-35 has some detrimental affects for agencies. As an agency having done literally thousands of LMO applications over 20+ years, it's a slap in the face to find out that you can't do your life's work without paying someone else to sign off on it despite your extensive experience with it. Most consultants, lawyers or paralegals will have never even seen an LCP LMO application before and yet they will be solely responsible for its submission!

But, specifically in Ontario, we have a rampant problem here with agencies operating fraudulently and maliciously. They are devaluing our business by charging nothing for their services and cheating Foreign Nationals out of thousands.

Unfortunately, as an ICCRC registered colleague said this past week, once the legislation is enacted you may as well adapt than attempt to fight it because under our current administration in Ottawa, nothing is going to change.

We would personally love if ACNA were to be given approval to form a nationally accredited society of agencies where members would be considered at the same level as other representatives in the LMO process (obviously limited to pre-application stage work). Until then, all we can do is act within the laws and hope that those contravening them get swept away in the process.

Thanks for your comment,

Ian

Still this is a slap in the face for BC Licensed Agencies who work under the umbrella of the BC Government's Labour Standards regulations. Do NOT accept this change Agencies!!! Fight it so that at least Agencies who are members of ACNA Canada are allowed to be 3rd party representatives.
